BetterYou+ is about why people do what they do — and what the evidence says actually helps. We write the version of a subject that survives reading the research, which is often not the version you have read everywhere else.
The premise
Most advice about behaviour is confident and untested. It circulates because it is memorable, not because it works. A great deal of it is a real finding that has been stretched past what the study said, and some of it is the opposite of what the study said.
So we start from the research and report what is there — including the size of an effect, who it worked for, and where it does not hold. Sometimes that means telling you a popular technique does not do what it promises. Sometimes it means telling you a dismissed one does, in a narrower way than its advocates claim. Both are more useful than another confident list.
What we cover
- Relationships — what actually predicts whether a relationship holds.
- Family — parents, children, grandparents, and the moments that turn out to matter.
- Work & Money — attention, decisions, and the behaviour underneath financial advice.
- Health — what the trials found, at the size they found it.
- Yourself — self-belief, comparison, resilience, and the constructs sold alongside them.
Running across all five is Behavior — the pattern underneath the story. It is a lens, not a sixth section: the same evidence turns up in a conversation with a partner, a decision about debt and a fight about bedtime, and Behavior is where you can read it that way.
How we work
Every article names its sources and links to them where they are publicly reachable. Every article is measured against a written publication standard before it goes live — structure, sourcing, image provenance, date honesty, accessibility — and checked on the rendered page across phone, tablet and desktop, in light and dark. An article that fails is not published.
The full account is in our Editorial Policy, and what we do when we get something wrong is in Corrections & Updates.
What we are not
We are not clinicians and we do not give personal advice. BetterYou+ reports research; it does not treat, diagnose or prescribe. Please read the Health & Informational Disclaimer — it is short, and it matters.
We also carry no advertising and no affiliate relationships. Nothing here earns us anything if you click it. See Advertising & Affiliates.
Reaching us
Corrections, questions and disagreements are all welcome: contact us. If you are pointing at something you think is wrong, the article and the specific claim will get it looked at fastest.
