BetterYou+ publishes what the evidence actually says about how people behave — including when that contradicts advice you have read everywhere else. This page describes how an article gets made, and what we will not do.

Every article starts from the evidence, not from the headline

We do not decide what an article will conclude and then look for support. An article begins with a question and a body of research, and the conclusion is whatever survives reading it. That is why a number of our pieces end up correcting a claim rather than repeating it: the most popular version of a subject is often the one the research does not support.

Where a finding is contested, small, or rests on a single study, we say so in the article rather than rounding it up into a certainty. Effect sizes, sample sizes and confidence intervals appear in the prose when they change what a reader should conclude.

Sources are named, counted and shown

Every article carries its sources at the end, and they are the sources the article actually used. We link to the underlying study or dataset wherever one is publicly reachable, so a reader can check the claim rather than take our word for it. An article whose sources cannot be listed is not published.

Nothing publishes until it passes the same gates

BetterYou+ runs on a written publication standard — a set of locked editorial and presentation laws that every article is measured against before it goes live. The standard covers structure, sourcing, image provenance, date honesty, accessibility and layout. It is versioned, and changing any law is a deliberate, recorded decision rather than a judgement call made during production.

Articles are checked on the rendered page across phone, tablet and desktop widths, in light and dark modes, before publication — not on a draft in an editor.

Images are directed, and their origin is recorded

Every photograph, illustration and diagram carries a record of who made it, where it came from and under what licence. The creator is credited on the page. Images are chosen because they do a job for the article — helping a reader recognise a situation, understand a mechanism, or see the evidence — not to decorate it.

Where an image is made rather than found — a diagram or a chart — it is credited to BetterYou+. If we ever publish an image generated with AI, it will say so in the credit line, on the image, every time.

What we do not do

  • We do not overstate. If the evidence is thin, the article says the evidence is thin.
  • We do not use fear or shame to hold attention. Headlines and images describe what the article contains.
  • We do not present opinion as finding. Where we interpret, the interpretation is marked as ours.
  • We do not fabricate. No invented sources, no invented quotes, no invented statistics, no images presented as records of something that did not happen.
  • We do not publish sponsored content dressed as editorial. See Advertising & Affiliates.

Who writes BetterYou+

BetterYou+ is a small independent publication. Articles are researched and written in-house against the standard described above, and reviewed before publication. We do not employ clinicians, and we do not present our writers as medical, psychological, legal or financial professionals — see the Health & Informational Disclaimer.

Getting it wrong

We will. When we do, we fix it and say so — see Corrections & Updates. If you think something here is wrong, tell us; a specific pointer to the claim and the evidence is the fastest way to get it changed.
