These Terms cover your use of BetterYou+. They are written to be read, so they are in plain English wherever plain English will carry the meaning. Where a sentence has to be precise to do its job, it is precise instead.
1. What these Terms cover
BetterYou+ is a publication of Ira Claris Media LLC (“BetterYou+”, “we”, “us”), which publishes this website at betteryouplus.com. By using the site you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
These Terms apply to everyone who reads the site. You do not need an account, and we do not offer one.
2. What BetterYou+ is
BetterYou+ is a publication. We report what research has found about behaviour, relationships, family, work, money and health, and we say so at the size the research found it.
Everything on this site is published for general information and education. It describes what has been observed across groups of people. It is not personal advice to you, it does not take account of your circumstances, and it cannot substitute for a professional who knows your situation.
3. Health and mental health
Nothing on BetterYou+ is medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care.
Do not use this site to start, stop or change any treatment, medication or therapy. Do not delay seeking professional advice, or disregard advice you have already been given, because of something you read here.
We do not employ clinicians. Our writers are not presented as medical or psychological professionals, and no article should be read as one professional speaking to a patient. Where an article discusses a clinical subject it reports research; it does not practise.
We do not recommend or endorse any specific test, clinician, care provider, product, procedure, opinion or service that may be mentioned on this site, and a mention is not an endorsement.
You rely on the content of this site at your own discretion and risk.
4. Money, work, tax and legal matters
Articles about money, work, insurance, benefits and family arrangements are informational for the same reason. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance or employment advice, and they do not account for your circumstances, your jurisdiction or your obligations.
Rights, deadlines, entitlements and procedures differ between places and between individual plans and contracts. For a decision that carries real consequences, speak to a qualified professional who can see your situation.
5. No professional relationship
Reading this site, contacting us, or subscribing to our newsletter does not create a doctor–patient, therapist–client, attorney–client, accountant–client, adviser–client or any other professional relationship between you and BetterYou+ or anyone who writes for it.
6. If you are in an emergency
This site is not a crisis service and is not monitored for emergencies. Messages sent through our contact form are not read in real time.
If you are in immediate danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself, or you are worried about someone who might be, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service now. In the United States you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, free, at any hour. Do not wait for a reply from a website.
7. Accuracy, sources and updates
We take accuracy seriously and we say publicly how we work: every article names its sources, links to them where they are publicly reachable, and is measured against a written publication standard before it goes live. When we get something wrong we correct it visibly. That is described in our Editorial Policy and our Corrections & Updates policy, and those commitments are real.
What we cannot do is guarantee an outcome. Research moves, links break, and an article reflects the evidence as we read it on the date shown. We do not warrant that the site is complete, current, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, correct or withdraw any part of it. Saying we make no warranty is not the same as saying we make no effort — the effort is described in the Editorial Policy and we intend to be held to it.
8. Our content, and how you may use it
The articles, photographs, diagrams, design and code on this site belong to BetterYou+ or to the people we licensed them from, and are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to read the site, to print or save a copy for your own use, and to quote us: a short extract, with the title, a clear attribution to BetterYou+ and a link to the original, is fine and needs no permission. Linking to us needs no permission either.
What needs our written permission is republishing an article in full or in substantial part, using our material commercially, systematically copying the site, or using our name, logo or design in a way that suggests we endorse something.
Photographs licensed from third parties are covered by their own licences and that permission does not extend to them.
9. What you may not do
- Use the site unlawfully, or to harm, harass or impersonate anyone.
- Attempt to gain access to any part of the site, server or account you are not meant to reach.
- Interfere with the site’s operation or security, or introduce anything malicious.
- Scrape or harvest the site by automated means beyond ordinary search-engine indexing, or use its content to train a model without our written permission.
- Frame the site, or present it in a way that alters how it appears or implies it is yours.
10. Messages you send us
The contact form is the way to reach us, and it is the only channel through which you can send us anything. We do not host comments, forums or user profiles.
When you write to us, please send only what you are willing to share, and do not send confidential information, health information about yourself or anyone else, or anything you are not entitled to pass on. We cannot promise confidentiality for an unsolicited message.
If you send us a correction, a suggestion or a criticism, you agree that we may act on it — including by correcting or improving an article — without owing you payment or credit. We will not publish your name or your message without asking you first.
What happens to the information in your message is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Links to other sites
We link out constantly, because a claim you cannot check is not worth much. Those sites are not ours: we do not control them, we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or how they treat your data, and a link is not an endorsement. When you follow a link away from BetterYou+, that site’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
12. Advertising and affiliate relationships
As these Terms take effect, BetterYou+ carries no advertising, has no affiliate relationships, accepts no sponsored content, and takes no payment from any company, product or service mentioned in an article. Nothing on this site earns us a commission.
If that ever changes, we will say so on our Advertising & Affiliates page with the date it changed, and the disclosure will appear on the page you are reading, beside the link — not only in a policy. Editorial decisions are made before and independently of any commercial arrangement.
13. No warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the site will be available, secure, or free of errors or harmful components.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is so, this section applies to you only as far as that law permits, and nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed.
14. Limits on our liability
BetterYou+ is provided free of charge. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything published here.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, and where that is so, this section applies only as far as that law permits.
15. Age
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 16, please use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and do not send us your details through the contact form or the newsletter.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the publication changes. When we do, we will change the effective date at the foot of this page, and for a change that materially affects your rights we will say what changed rather than quietly reposting the document. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
BetterYou+ is published by Ira Claris Media LLC and is operated from the United States.
The governing law and the forum for resolving any dispute are being settled with legal counsel and are not stated here yet. We would rather leave this open than name a jurisdiction we have not properly chosen — the version of this page that these Terms replace named the law of the Netherlands, which was a template’s default and had nothing to do with this publication.
In the meantime, nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law that applies where you live, and we do not ask you to waive a right you cannot waive. We do not require arbitration and we do not ask you to give up any right to bring a claim as part of a group.
18. How to reach us
BetterYou+ is published by Ira Claris Media LLC. For anything about these Terms, corrections, or how the site works, use our contact form, or write to [email protected].
Effective 4 September 2026. These Terms replace the “Terms and Conditions” published on 12 August 2022.
